Donate Life Maryland “Likes” Heroes!

Donate Life Maryland Likes Heroes is a social media campaign to engage our public in the promotion of Donor Designations throughout Maryland during April 2011, Donate Life Month.  Here’s how it works:

Request a cape be mailed to you (free of charge) by e-mailing info@donatelifemaryland.org. Then, follow these simple instructions:

1. Wear the cape to show you are a hero and support organ, eye and   tissue donation

2. Take a fun and respectful picture of yourself wearing the cape

3. Post your picture to the Donate Life Maryland Facebook Page with a comment to describe your location by April 30th

4. Encourage your Facebook friends to visit the Donate LifeMaryland page and “like” your picture by May 15th

5. The hero with the most “likes” on May 15th will win club box tickets behind home plate for the Orioles vs. Yankees game on Saturday, August 27, 2011.

Once you take a picture of yourself in the cape and post it to the Donate Life Maryland Facebook page, be sure to pass the cape to another hero to keep spreading the word about organ, eye and tissue donation during all of Donate Life Month!

Keep checking the Donate Life Maryland Facebook page throughout Donate Life Month to see all of our heroes and to also have a chance to win other great prizes!

About Lauren

Lauren Muskauski is the communications associate at The Living Legacy Foundation. She heads up many community outreach initiatives and projects, with a focus on middle school, high school and college outreach. She also manages The LLF’s and Donate Life Maryland’s presence on social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. Lauren’s commitment to donation started early when she registered as an organ, eye and tissue donor at the MVA upon receiving her first drivers’ license, but was then reinforced a few years later when her father passed away while waiting for a liver transplant. Now, she continues to be inspired on a daily basis by the generosity of donors and their families, as well as the gratitude exhibited by every recipient she meets.

I had my picture taken at bayview medical center on april 4, 2011 but I don’t know where to look for it. Can you help?

      Hi Shirley,

To win the contest, you have to post the picture to the Donate Life Maryland Facebook page (www.facebook.com/donatelifemaryland). You should contact whomever took the picture of you wearing the cape and ask them to send it to you so you can post it for your chance to win!

    Shirley,

I just found out the Living Legacy staff member who took pictures at Bayview on Friday was Laura Rye. E-mail her at lrye@thellf.org and she will e-mail you your picture so you can post it to the facebook page for a chance to win those tickets!

    Good Luck!
    Lauren
