The 2012 Transplant Games of America are finally here! From July 27th – August 1st, Team Maryland, comprised of twenty-nine transplant recipients, living donors, and donor family members will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to represent Maryland as they compete in Olympic-style events. Team Maryland ended the Transplant Games of America on a high note by earning another seven medals. Here’s a recap of yesterday’s events:
Bowling Singles
Olivia Strama, heart recipient – Silver Medal
Essie Wilson, kidney recipient – Silver Medal
Eric Bredehoft, kidney recipient – Bronze Medal
Tennis Doubles
Henry Humm, heart & kidney recipient, and Phil Cioffioni, kidney recipient – Bronze Medal
Golf
Christa Gahagan, living donor – Gold Medal
Sharon Masters, kidney and pancreas recipient – Gold Medal
Jim Mozingo, kidney recipient – Silver Medal
Our athletes certainly gave the competition their all this week. Congratulations to everyone who competed; you made Maryland proud!
